“Normal” teenage experiences can be both difficult and challenging for any young person. Unfortunately, for some young women this normally trying time is further complicated by mental health issues and/or more extreme traumatic events such as separation from parents, physical abuse, eating disorders, sexual abuse, or teen pregnancy. Since they are not equipped with healthy ways to cope with the stressors in their life, these girls may engage in high-risk behaviors, self-harm, aggressive, defiant or oppositional behaviors, sexual promiscuity, and use drugs and/or alcohol.

Our goal at Northcutt Residential Treatment Center is to break the negative cycle for these troubled girls — by providing a venue for quality care, treatment and education which promotes personal and interpersonal growth and safety — enabling them to make better, more responsible choices and to successfully transition to home or a less restrictive community environment. ♥

♥ On-site educational services — including an in-house computer lab — are provided by a certified special education teacher who works     with each student’s home school district to facilitate provision of credit for academic work completed while at Northcutt
♥ We coordinate each girl’s healthcare needs during her stay at Northcutt, including the specialized needs of expectant mothers
♥ A Life Skills program is offered to help each girl be better prepared to live independently
♥ We offer mental health supports and follow-up services for girls in transition back to their home location
♥ We can conduct full psychological assessments/evaluations if needed
